Chapter 609 - 608: Arriving in a small base filled with robbers 4
"And since they were very enthusiastic, we went around some areas of the base a bit, and I didn't see any children at all.I asked around, and those people said that the base doesn't have any kids at all since all the kids died before.
They also only have a few women around, and those women were obviously assimilated into the environment already, as they also have the same greedy look that those men have.
And according to them, there weren't so many people before, but since their leader is very powerful, their numbers grew.
And it seemed that they were really confident about their leader, as they were boasting that their leader was very powerful and was always able to solve their problems.
They're even boasting that because of their leader, all of them are living a good life even though there are zombies and mutant animals outside.
But they're still vigilant, because when I asked what power their leader has, they wouldn't speak; and they wouldn't even tell me how their leader could solve their problems and let all of them live a good life, even though this area clearly lacks supplies," Nathan added.
"So, all the people in this small base are all adults, their main income comes from robbing others, and most of their confidence comes from their current leader," Treyton summarized.
"Yeah, it seems that they believe that they could really do anything as long as their leader is present.
They weren't even good actors, but they're still acting as if we are all fools who couldn't even see that they're planning something bad.
When we were talking to them, they were practically looking at us as if we were idiots, and they were even blatantly asking what supplies we have, as if they could divide it readily among themselves," Nathan said.
"Wow, they think so highly of themselves," Camille commented and then asked, "Did you see if there are really people who are strong enough to fight our team?"
"Most of the people here seem to know basic fighting or have always engaged in some fights, and their physical strength seems to be good.
But they don't seem to be professionally trained or anything like that, so they could surely be dealt with.
As for the use of superpowers, I haven't seen anyone using them, but there are probably some who could use them, and their leader is certainly one—that's why they're so confident.
I just don't know how strong their leader could be for them to all be so confident," Nathan answered.
"No matter how confident they are, I'm sure they couldn't even catch up to the ability level of our two bosses," Camille confidently said while looking at him and Treyton.
Luciel just rolled his eyes, as he didn't plan on getting involved in dealing with the small base that they were in, and Treyton also didn't bother saying anything.
Of course, he also thought that Camille was correct, and even if that person really had a higher ability, Luciel was confident that Treyton and the others could still deal with them.
"I think Luciel and Treyton don't even need to take action at all. Those people don't look strong; I could definitely deal with them on my own," Nathan also said confidently.
"Then why don't we leave it to you once they come at night, since you can do it yourself," Treyton said to Nathan.
"Yeah, you just said that you can take them on your own. Good luck!" Luciel also added.
"Hey! Don't be like that. Even if I'm confident in myself, I certainly can't deal with them all in a short time. If all of them come, it won't be good if it takes a long time to deal with them," Nathan immediately said.
Treyton didn't bother with Nathan's nonsense any longer and then proceeded to ask about the approximate number of people in the small base and other things such as their weapons.
After Yang and Nathan answered Treyton's questions, they proceeded to tell the other members about it.
Then, they would just wait until the people in the small base took action to teach them a lesson and drive them out of the base that they had established.
That evening, all of them had an early dinner so that they'll have more energy in dealing with those people who would certainly come and disturb them later. The younger kids were also urged to just sleep early and not stay awake like the others.
As for Luciel, he didn't need to be urged at all, as he had already planned to sleep early—unlike Treyton and the others who would stay awake so that they could immediately respond when the people in the small base took action.
Luciel didn't plan to join in their action, but he would certainly still be disturbed by the noise while they were fighting, so he planned to rest earlier so as not to be in a bad mood later on.
At midnight, Luciel was woken up by the people of the small base. Those outside were a bit careful with their actions, but Luciel still woke up because he could still hear their movements and because he could clearly feel the growing malice towards them.
They were being careful, so they were certainly planning to do something first. Treyton and the others, who were obviously awake, didn't move but continued to pretend that they were already resting.
After a while, Luciel could feel the wind entering their RVs, as well as the smell of chemicals, which were certainly sleeping drugs.
But even though he could smell it, Luciel still didn't bother opening his eyes because Treyton and the others were already prepared for it.
They knew that the small base could use such things if they had them, so all those with wind abilities were currently staying in different RVs. Aside from that, they also had different vials that contained different antidotes that Jacob had prepared for all of them.
